In Ibadan, Sumal Foods’ workers protest over poor remuneration

Hundreds of workers at Sumal foods, Oluyole Industrial estate, ring road Ibadan earlier today protested over alleged poor remuneration and inhumane treatment by the company.

The workers, who lamented that the condition of work at the company was no longer bearable, vowed not to go back to their work until their wages are increased and condition of work is improved.

According to the protest’s front man, “This protest began yesterday and today is making the second day, yet the management has not come to reason with us. The condition of work here is killing. What we earn as workers is not commensurable with the stress and hours we work daily. Are we slaves?”

The workers were also calling on the management of the company to provide them with basic amenities as well as reduce their hours of work.

All effort made to speak with the company’s spokesman proved abortive.
