75-year-old woman clubbed to death, burnt in Ogbagi-Akoko

In the last two years, Akoko area of Ondo state has been a centre of undefined attack in which a few aged mothers were clubbed to death and their body organs severed in different attacks.


The latest happened at Ayetoro Street in Ogbagi-Akoko last Monday where another 75-year-old mother, Bosede Jimoh was reportedly clubbed to death with pestle, organs severed and taken away, tummy gruesomely opened while the rest of her body was set ablaze by the unknown perpetrators.

Speaking with Babatunde Bamigboye (Omo Edema) on the incident, the first born of the deceased, Olasehinde Omole who lived in Akure said he was called on phone around 1am that the house of her mother was on fire.


“That house is her husband’s and she lived there alone while I live in Akure. When I was called that her house was on fire, I made my way down to Ogbagi-Akoko. It was shocking to see that she was gruesomely killed. She was clubbed to death with pestle, her throat and tummy slit with a knife and her breasts and private part severed and taken away by the perpetrators of the evil.

A neighbour who identified herself as Yemi said the incident was shocking, adding that nobody on the street or in the neighbourhood knew when the incident happened. She said their attention was drawn to it when they saw the house on fire.


A senior police officer from the area who craved anonymity, confirmed the incident. He described the modus operandi as being new and diabolic. He said police was on top of the situation earnestly with a bid to bringing the perpetrators of the wicked act to book.
