Eight All Progressive Congress (APC) lawmakers of the Benue state, Nigeria have reportedly served impeachment

Eight All Progressive Congress (APC) lawmakers of the Benue state, Nigeria have reportedly served impeachment notice to the Governor of the state, Samuel Ortom on Monday morning over alleged diversion of state funds and abuse of office.

Report says the lawmakers gained access to the state assembly complex while the police prevented further access to the house.

The Governor, who recently defected from the APC to PDP, gave reasons why he left the party to include that the Benue state youths had forced him to leave the party or be rejected as their governor.

Eye witnesses said in the early hours of Monday, the youths from Benue state had trooped out massively to block entry to the Benue State Assembly complex upon receipt of information on plots by some politicians loyal to the APC to impeach Governor Ortom.

Meanwhile, Police and other government security operatives have stationed at the state’s Assembly complex to prevent possible breakdown of law and order in the state.
