The world search engine giant, Google is celebrating the 58th Posthumous birthday of the late Nigeria’s musician and actress, Christy Uduak Essien-Igbokwe MFR today.
The 24hours doodle celebration of the woman appeared on the homepage of Google in the early hours of today.
Recall the actress, who was known for her song “Seun Rere” and referred to as Nigeria’s Lady of Songs, was born in November 11, 1960 in Akwa Ibom State and died in June 30, 2011.
Report says the multilingual R&B music singer and songwriter was the first female president of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN). She was also the chairwoman and managing director of Soul Train entertainment limited until her death.
Essien-Igbokwe life and death have been about commendations and awards for her meaningful contributions to the nation building and music industries in Nigeria.
Parts of her Posthumous Awards include “Entertainment Icon” by West African Women in Leadership Conference (in Ghana) – 2011 and “Excellence in Outstanding Performance & Hard Work” by National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students (NAAKISS) – University of Lagos Chapter – 2011.
